The engines are twin DTN conversions of Peugeot 2.3-litre diesels (62bhp @ 3500rpm each). These drive through Hurth V-drive 2:1 reduction-gearboxes and flexible-couplings to the propeller-shafts, which are sealed by plain greased stern-glands. The engines are in very satisfactory external condition, showing no obvious signs of stress. The installations were originally well carried-out, utilising flexible engine-mountings to encapsulated bearers, and are still in satisfactory order. During the course of engine-trials, both engines started from cold and ran in an entirely satisfactory manner. Gearbox-operations were in order and transmissions were smooth.
